| | hey guys..
these are wonderful tutorials and my deepest respect goes out to riemer and this active community !
I am rather amazed to see that there are tutorials for just about everything but there are no tutorials on how to make levels for 2D Games like mario or other side scrolling arcade games.
I did a bit of research to find out that they are made with XML files .. but the fundamental is not clear on how to implement collision , how to make the player run over the tiles and how to make enemies move..
Just about evrything that goes into simple 2D GAmes
So if someone could give me a link to a good resource on net on 2D side scrolling arcade game development (With level building) then i would be really grateful.
This would form a great idea for riemer to begin a new tutorial series..i think! | |

| | Hi Rakshak,
have you taken a look at the creators club? There are tutorials that should cover all basic features.
Here's the link showing all tutorials with 2D content: http://creators.xna.com/en-US/education/catalog/?contenttype=0&devarea=5&sort=1

| | Hi Rakshak,
when You reach a basic understanding for 2D side scrollers and feel ready to start programming, have a look at this thread from this side:
http://www.riemers.net/Forum/index.php?var=1592&var2=0
It discusses collision detection in 2D side scrollers.
